Earl Tawny Hisoler is the artist behind The Tawny Canvas, a creative studio based in Columbia, Missouri. We specialize in live event hand engraving for luxury brands, custom calligraphy, signage for events and day-of wedding stationery. We also teach workshops to help you learn calligraphy and watercolor. We design and create unique, personalized pieces of art for retailers, weddings, special events, gifting, and around the home.
We serve the St. Louis and Kansas City metropolitan as well.

We offer on-site and in-studio engraving services around Missouri for retailers/brands who are looking to elevate their product launches, events or parties through unique and beautiful personalization options for their clientele/ guests.
Due to the versatility of hand engraving, we can add personal messages/names and even illustrations to a wide variety of items that many laser engravers cannot.

We offer calligraphy and watercolor services to create unique and timeless customized gifts for you, your loved ones or the home.

We offer premium calligraphy services for weddings and other special events like anniversaries, holidays and even birthday parties.
These include spot calligraphy, envelope addressing, place/ escort cards, seating charts, and wedding signages.

Hi! It’s wonderful to meet you!
I am the proud owner and the hand behind the works of The Tawny Canvas.
I’m a medical laboratory scientist by day and a creative by night and on most weekends. Besides all things art, I enjoy personal finance (yes, I am a big spreadsheet and budget nerd), real crime shows, hiking (or anything outdoorsy), DIY home renovations and hanging out with friends and my little family.
My journey as a calligrapher all started way back in 2014, in a little boba tea shop, with my newly bought dotted notebook and a black permanent marker. This hobby-turned-business has brought a lot of joy and purpose into my life and it has paved way into achieving my American dream. Calligraphy is more than just beautiful handwriting, it is being fully present and intentional. It is a form of self care, a time to slow down, focus and breathe.
It is my ultimate goal to work with YOU, bring your brightest ideas to surface and help you elevate your experience, may it be through an on-site event, a calligraphy workshop, a well-thought present or your most awaited wedding day.
